Rider Support Fund
The gala raises funds to help eligible Supercross riders with the costs of competing. Here's how the fund works.
What is the Rider Support Fund?+
The Rider Support Fund has been created through the Suited Up for Supercross Gala to help eligible Supercross riders with costs associated with competing in the sport.
Funds are raised through auctions, raffles, donations and other fundraising activities connected to the event.
How much of a donation goes to riders?+
100% of all donations made on the night will go directly to the Rider Support Fund. For auction items, the full amount paid above the reserve price will be donated to the Rider Support Fund.
Who decides how the funds are distributed?+
Arwon Motorsports administers the Rider Support Fund; however, funding allocation decisions are made by an independent Rider Support Committee established by Arwon Motorsports for this purpose.
The Committee's role is to ensure funds are distributed fairly, transparently, and solely towards genuine riding-related expenses. Arwon Motorsports will facilitate the administration and payment of approved allocations based on the Committee's recommendations.
Who can receive funding?+
Funding is available to approved Supercross riders selected by the Rider Support Committee. The list of successful riders and/or teams will be published following the event.
As this is the inaugural year of the program, recipients were selected from riders and teams who nominated themselves to participate. Future funding rounds will provide an opportunity for eligible riders and teams to apply for support.
Can teams apply?+
The recipients for this year's funding have already been selected by the committee. Future funding rounds will provide an opportunity for teams, individual riders and other eligible recipients to apply for support, with applications assessed in accordance with the program guidelines.
How much funding can a rider receive?+
100% of donations from the event, through silent auction, live auction, raffles, merchandise sales or direct donations will be contributed to the Rider Support Fund. Each approved rider will be allocated a funding limit based on the total amount raised through the event.
Because the amount available depends on fundraising outcomes, funding amounts may vary from year to year.
No minimum funding amount is guaranteed.
What expenses are covered?+
Examples of eligible expenses include:
- Riding gear and protective equipment
- Motorcycle parts and maintenance
- Race entry fees
- Fuel and transport costs
- Freight and logistics
- Accommodation for race-related travel
- Training and coaching expenses
- Other approved riding-related costs
What expenses are not covered?+
Funding cannot be used for personal living expenses, entertainment, alcohol, non-racing travel, personal debts or other expenses unrelated to participating in Supercross or motocross.
How do riders access the funding?+
The Rider Support Fund operates on a reimbursement basis.
Riders purchase approved items or services, then submit:
- A receipt or tax invoice
- Proof of payment
- An invoice requesting reimbursement
Once approved, reimbursement will be paid up to the rider's available funding limit.
Can riders receive cash payments?+
No. Funds are only provided for approved riding-related expenses supported by appropriate documentation.
Can riders apply every year?+
Yes, provided they meet the eligibility requirements for that year's Rider Support Fund program.
Eligibility may change from year to year.
Are the finances audited or reviewed?+
Arwon Motorsports maintains records of funds raised, event expenses and rider reimbursements.
A financial reconciliation is completed following the event to determine the amount available for rider support.
What happens if there is money left over?+
Any unclaimed or unused funds may be retained within the Rider Support Fund and used to support future rider development initiatives.
Unused funds will not be distributed as profit to Arwon Motorsports or its directors.
Can Arwon Motorsports keep the money?+
No. 100% of all direct donations will be allocated to the Rider Support Fund and used to support eligible riders.
Arwon Motorsports acts as the administrator of the fund and does not retain the net proceeds for personal or company gain.
